Blacklike Blacklike! Tintz is back, with an absolute banger of a track, one for the ravers, moshers, spitters, drillers and Grime itself, come on!
With Olja on the beat, coming dark and ominous, and creating a heavy threat with his patterns, the riddim kicks off muted, with a heavy horn stabs, and a siren-like synth melody (which changes note every 4 bars), then a heavy 808 and a light snare pattern, and as the riddim builds and becomes clearer and louder, barely there hihats and computer synths are introduced, with Olja paring it down to mostly just the melody and kick during the breaks, where Tintz spits the hook. A vibe.
Tintz himself has come with fully hard bars making use of his slogan ‘Blacklike Tintz’, for around half the track, spitting ‘black like’ parallels throughout, and using imagery to equate himself with a ton of subjects and objects, he shares how he sees himself in life, and where he sits within the scene. Tintz creates both powerful and destructive imagery in relation to his slogan, so we understand ‘black like’ to be synonymous with strength and domination.
At different points in the track, we hear Tintz express this with bars that start ‘Black like, black like...’ followed by things like; ‘Silverback.....but I’m blacker than that call me silver black’, ‘hearsing, merked him’, ‘burnt him’, ‘Tyres, tyres’, ‘remains of fires’, ‘ashes’, ‘smoke that comes from a car when it crashes’, ‘your eye, and I’ll Black your Dad’s, black your mum, black your slags’ ‘the gloves that I wear when I’m holding microphone skeng’, ‘like the ink in the pen’. Deep.
The hook come like a full wave, and has you spitting it for days, with Tintz half singing, half growling ‘Black like, black like, what d‘you know about/Black like, black like, all day every day/Black like, black like, I get deep on street and deep on beat/I get black like, black like’. Hard.
In other parts of the tune, Tintz shares he’ll body anyone these times; ‘black like tar in the street, had to leave man far behind, coz he can’t compete’, ‘Manna get black like something’s burning/Beat gets merked, Black likes merking’, and ‘Manna get ready for the war.....know that the ting is gonna get dark’, showing he ain’t shy of a clash, heavy.
Coming to shell it down, hard and Grimey, and show he’s war ready, still, Tintz has delivered a full mosh riddim, full of potential wheel ups....cop it, and bang it loud!
