Ronnie Bosh And Dirty Dike have created a wave here, fr. Coming with a riddim about where he’s been, and where he’s about to go, Bosh reintroduces himself big with this one.
With Dike on the buttons, the track kicks off with a sample from a British program or film, that sets the tone of the whole tune, not needing to take any shit from anyone, and being sure of yourself (and your craft), this is backed by a guitar sample intro, with a one note heavy bass, that transitions with the Rev of an engine into the main tune.
The riddim itself come like the greaziest boom bap your ears have clocked for time. Making use of an incredibly simple, but effective 3 note guitar melody, with a triangle accent on almost every four, a low, low sub bass following the same pattern, a heavy kick/snare pattern, the crackle of a record player and some computer synths adding a layers on top of the melody, Dike has done the impossible, and injected a freshness into this classic boom bap style riddim that’s seemingly brought it bang up to date. Outstanding.
Bosh himself comes slick with it, coming straight in with the half sung hook, and laying out how he sees himself in the game from the off; ‘There ain’t no reason I should fucking pretend/I got my swagger on 100%, but fuck love & respect/ I’m vexed, hungry and come to offend, and trust me/I done done it again/I’m utter contempt and utter fuckry, just under the breath...but I’m the baddest they ain’t touching me yet’.
In the main bars, Bosh shares that he fell off for a while, and got into some heavy shit; ‘So allow me to reintroduce the recluse/Mindset to feed himself fumes and abuse/He was busy speaking truth in his youth/Now elusive, rarely ever seen in the booth’, but that he finds the state of the game is sad, and in need of him; ‘I confess I’m depressed and I couldn’t care less/Bout your rapper don swagger or your puffed out chest/What next? A tiny bit of shine, at best/Then a lifetime spent on the side like the rest?’. Oooof.
In his second round of bars, he shares that he’s got what it takes these times to out-bar anyone; ‘And if you really wanna test me, I come equipped...But them motherfuckers don’t know who the fuck they’re fucking with’, and everyone better make way, because he don’t care, still, he’s coming for it all; ‘So let me give ‘em a clue, it’s that rap cat, longer than a didgeridoo/Billin’ a zoot, walking in the villainous boots/Hide your wives, your girlfriends and your mistresses too....I’m back bitch, isn’t it true?’. Come on!
The video is a spectacle in black and white, which sees Bosh in a series of fresh fits, and occasionally in a dressing gown, not giving af, on a white background. It makes use of special effects to bring him in and out of shot, spinning round it, disappearing off the side of it, etc. It’s all about Ronnie Bosh, he’s coming, and he doesn’t care if you’re rattled.
Watch this space. Cop it, cop it now!
